General Info

If you are looking for a memorable ice cream stop in Costa Mesa, Stella Jean's Ice Cream at 2930 Bristol St A103, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, offers a refreshing experience that feels both creative and approachable. As an ice cream shop known for distinctive flavors and quality ingredients, it has become a popular spot for locals and visitors searching for a sweet treat that goes beyond the ordinary.

One of the first things that stands out on the menu is the Single House-Made Waffle Cone. Freshly prepared and full of rich aroma, it adds an extra layer of flavor and texture to any scoop. The cone itself feels like part of the experience rather than just a container, making every bite more enjoyable.

The flavor selection also brings something unique to the table. Mango Sticky Rice is a standout choice that combines fruity sweetness with comforting notes inspired by the classic dessert. For those seeking dairy-free options, the Vegan Strawberry flavor delivers a bright and refreshing taste without sacrificing creaminess. Another popular item is the Ube Pandesal Toffee - Pint, which offers a distinctive blend of sweet and rich flavors that many customers mention in their reviews.

From a visitor’s perspective, the shop is easy to access and welcoming. The wheelchair accessible entrance and wheelchair accessible parking lot make visits more convenient for a wide range of guests. While there is no table service, the straightforward setup keeps the focus on choosing flavors and enjoying them at your own pace. Takeout service is also available, making it easy to grab a pint or a cone and continue exploring nearby locations around Costa Mesa.

Convenience extends to payment options as well, with debit cards accepted for a smooth checkout process. During my visit, the ordering experience felt quick and organized, allowing more time to browse the menu and discover new flavors.

What makes Stella Jean's Ice Cream memorable is the balance between familiar comfort and creative offerings. Whether you choose a classic cone, try the Mango Sticky Rice flavor, enjoy the Vegan Strawberry option, or take home a pint of Ube Pandesal Toffee, the experience feels thoughtfully crafted. The combination of quality selections, accessible facilities, and consistently positive reviews helps make this Costa Mesa ice cream shop a destination worth adding to any dessert-focused outing.

What customers say?

“ One of the best vegan ice creams I’ve ever had! I just wish I didn’t have to be in California to get some ”

“ Loved all the flavors we tried here! We ended up getting Yuzu Poppy Seed, Ube, Mango Sticky Rice, and S'mores flavors. Would highly recommend these flavors! The Ube and Yuzu were my favorite. The split scoops are actually pretty big! Almost felt like double scoops. Can't wait to come back and try more flavors! ”

“ If I could give half stars, I'd do 3.5 out of 5. I'll round up in case it was just a bad night. We visited Stella Jean's for the first time around 8:30pm on a Monday night. They weren't busy. There was one employee working, and just one family buying ice cream when we arrived. We were excited to try some of their fall flavors before they rotate their seasonal offerings. My partner got the Apple Butter + Crumble (vegan) in a waffle cone, and I got the Goat Cheese + Cranberry in a cup. Overall, though, it wasn't the best experience. Positives: - Both flavors had a good taste. Not too sweet, some nice subtleties, overall well-mixed. I would have liked a little more cranberry in mine, but I really enjoyed the flavor overall. - The vegan ice cream had a nice smooth and creamy texture, which is apparently hard to achieve. Most vegan ice creams tend to be very icy. - The employee was reasonably friendly and apologetic. Negatives: - The shop was HOT inside. It felt like the heat was set to 80 degrees. We came from it feeling quite pleasant outside, cool enough to wear a light jacket, into a very warm room. I had to take off my jacket and still, I couldn't wait to leave. - The employee who served us had her hair pulled back but with long pieces hanging out. When she put her head down into the cooler to scoop our ice cream, her hair hung over and down nearly into 2 adjacent flavors. - My partner's waffle cone (+$2.75) looked overly done. It was already sitting out, it was dark, and it did not taste good. He always gets a waffle cone when we venture out for ice cream, but he said he wouldn't get one here again. - They don't accept cash, but their card reader wasn't working. I tapped and inserted two different credit cards, all while the employee stood there and said nothing. Ultimately, after I made many attempts and pointed out that it must be their reader, she offered to manually enter my card number. - The texture of my ice cream, which uses traditional cow's milk, was very chunky and had many icy bits. It was not smooth and creamy, nor the most pleasant to eat. We've been looking forward to trying Stella Jean's for a while now, and overall we both felt disappointed. The flavors are good, but it's not enough to make up for the bad experience and poor value. I hope they see this and tighten up. We may give them another chance, in case this was a very off night, but there are plenty of other good shops around where I don't regret spending $15-20 for ice cream for two. ”
